W60 Spring run

The first day of Spring in the Southern Hemishere and ideal conditions for a run. Engine hours are being clocked up prior to heading to deep water and foreign ports.

"Bastion", the first W60 can be seen in the accompanying video.

Her speed over ground is 9.5 knots. Half her installed horsepower is being used, approx. 150 BHP.

Conditions like this show off her perfect steaming qualities; minimal resistance, no significant wake and complete ease of motion.

Her load condition is light at 70 tonnes, with 5000 litres of fuel of a total capacity of 16,000. Fully fueled she has Trans-Pacific range; Auckland, NZ to San Francisco, USA.

We will have more video footage soon.

There are many 60ft motor yachts on the market today, and I have been on quite a few of them. The Watson 60 is a vessel I would very much like to spend some time on. The placement of machinery, quality of build, and the general arrangement of the vessel clearly demonstrate many years spent at sea and the drawing board (the hard yards). PML has brought together a team that has truly given birth to a vessel that is fit for purpose. On top of all of that, she looks a treat to the eye!! Alan Qld Aus.

I have seen streamlined boats before but this one is the darling of them all. From all directions head on port & starboard as well as stern on she is an absolute beauty, I envy the crew that did the Numea run. The cruising Stats would in anyones estimation be very interesting reading for that trip. The builders are to be very highly comended for this beauty. Best Wishes to you One & All Neil Macdonald Sydney Au.a27YZ
